Build and test form logic

A rule combines conditions with actions. Start with one question and one branch, then expand only after both matching and nonmatching paths work.

Steps

  1. Open Design → Logic → Branching & Calculations and find the question that should trigger the rule.
  2. Select + Add rule. Choose the condition field, a comparison appropriate to that field, and a comparison value.
Read the condition and destination together. This example was canceled; it does not demonstrate a saved or executed rule.
  3. Use AND when all conditions must match or OR when any condition may match. Add an action and complete its required fields.
  4. For a branch, choose a valid destination question. Select Save logic; incomplete rules must be completed or removed.
Use zoom to inspect individual routes. A map connection alone does not prove the rule is correct.
  5. Preview a matching answer, a nonmatching answer, and a changed answer. Check that every route can finish.

Check before you rely on it

Write the expected route in plain language before configuring it. Avoid conflicting rules and self-referential navigation.

If you need help

The editor exposes several action types, but their presence does not prove a configured email, redirect, or external service works. Test each intended side effect separately.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
