Question numbers help respondents keep their place. You can hide them when your form design does not need visible numbering.

Find the control

  1. Open your form’s Design tab.
  2. Open More settings in the settings panel.
  3. Find Hide question number. You may need to scroll inside the panel.
These display controls are separate. Hide question number affects numbering; it does not make an answer optional.

Hide or show the numbers

Turn Hide question number on to hide visible question numbering. Turn it off to show the numbers again. Confirm that the change has saved.

The adjacent controls for Hide progress bar, Hide option letters, and Hide question marks serve different purposes. Change only the control you need.

Preview the result

  1. Open preview and visit more than one question.
  2. Check desktop and mobile views.
  3. If you use logic, follow each path and confirm that the resulting flow is still understandable.
  4. Reopen the form if you need to check that the display setting persisted.

Hiding a display element does not remove the underlying question or change which answers are required. Use Mark Optional in Question options for required-answer behavior.

If a number still appears

Check that you changed the setting on the intended form and that saving finished. Refresh the preview or reopen the respondent link to check the current form. If the result still differs, report the device, browser, and the question where you see the problem.
