Steps

  1. Decide which answers earn points and write a small scoring table before editing the form.
  2. Open Design → Logic → Customize using data → Variables and choose or create a Number variable with an initial value of 0. Save it.
A Number variable stores a starting value. Saved calculation rules determine how answers change it.
  3. Open Branching & Calculations. Add a rule on each scored question, choose the answer condition, and add a calculation action that changes the intended variable.
Check both the target variable and operand. This control example was canceled and is not a verified points rule.
  4. Select Save logic. Test an all-zero path, a single-point path, and the highest possible total.
  5. Check the total through your intended recall or Results workflow before publishing the quiz.

Check before you rely on it

Keep one variable per independent score. A displayed score is not evidence that every answer rule is correct.

If you need help

Changing an earlier answer, moving backwards, or repeating a question can expose scoring mistakes. Include those paths in your test.
