Plan an order total with calculations

A calculated order summary and a payment collection are separate parts of a form. Verify the total before connecting a payment flow.

Steps

  1. Define each item, unit price, allowed quantity, and currency. Explain delivery costs and taxes separately.
  2. Create numeric variables for quantities and totals as needed. Use the current calculation actions to update them from answers.
This illustrates the available operation and answer operand. Test totals and changed answers independently before payment use.
  3. Test zero items, one item, several items, and a changed quantity. Compare each result with a hand calculation.
  4. If collecting payment, configure the Payment question and its connected payment account, then test using the provider’s supported sandbox flow.
An offered provider is not an authenticated payment account. Use supported sandbox testing before collecting money.
  5. Compare the amount actually requested by the payment flow with the displayed order summary.

Check before you rely on it

Do not assume that naming a variable price automatically binds it to the amount charged. Confirm the supported connection in your form.

If you need help

Payment availability and calculated-amount binding need verification for the selected provider. Do not collect live payments while testing.
